About Melissa MacBride

Melissa MacBride is a general assignment reporter for ABC7 Eyewitness News.

She was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. Melissa got her start in front of the camera while studying broadcast journalism and political science. WISC, the CBS affiliate, chose her for a full-time, paid, on-air reporting internship. After graduation, Melissa went on to report for KDLT in Sioux Falls, SD and was promoted to anchor the station's weekend newscasts. Her coverage of a deadly tornado helped her land her next job reporting and anchoring for WTVQ in Lexington, KY.

“Fair Chance” Ordinance Would Remove Felon Question on Job Apps

Los Angeles city councilman has introduced a proposed ordinance to remove the box on job applications that asks applicants if they've committed a felony. Councilman Curren Price has introduced the "Fair Chance Initiative" to help even the playing field for convicted felons. If passed by the council, job applicants wouldn't have to check the felon box.
